Once in a while a wee treat arrives in the office in the shape of a box of chocolates for a job well done or a tasty delicacy from a business we’re featuring.
Over the years, we’ve had fish and chips, pizza, cakes and even the world’s hottest curry pie.
It’s not an everyday occurrence by any means but I could swear that, since I started my latest diet, more and more of these offerings have come our way, trying to outdo each other in terms of tastiness in a bid to lure me off my plan.
One by one they have been gallantly resisted to the extent that nobody even bothers popping in to my office to offer me a piece any more.
It’s been difficult at times – some rather delicious looking cakes which appeared at our editorial meeting being particularly hard to resist – but I’ve always abstained ... until last week that is.
