#StudentLife: be safe and not sorry

Police Scotland is working with universities and colleges to launch its Student Safety 2016 campaign.

It centres around four main areas – partying, identity safety, online activity and looking after property.

Being a student can be an exciting time, moving into student halls and flats, making new friends and enjoying a new found freedom.

But moving from home to an unfamiliar place can also be a daunting experience.

Coupled with the student lifestyle, enjoying nights out and taking expensive equipment such as laptops and ipads to flats and halls of residence, many young people can fall victim to crime and over consumption.

The campaign aims to increase awareness for their own personal safety and the safety of their belongings.

Police Scotland’s advice is to party safe, look after your friends, be sensible with how much you drink and avoid illegal drugs and/or new psychoactive substances.

It’s also important to look after online passwords, bank cards, passports and driving licenses.
