Falkirk officers have been participating in and promoting the national online student safety campaign #BELIKEALEX, which offers safety advice to new students and a timely reminder to those returning for the new session.

The campaign aims to increase students’ awareness of personal safety and the safety of property to ensure our young people have the best start to student life.

Our advice is to party safe, look after your friends, be sensible with how much you drink and avoid illegal drugs and/or new psycho-active substances.

Avoid getting involved in anti-social behaviour, it can have long term effects on your life and career.

Take care when arranging accommodation and make sure potential landlords have the appropriate local authority license.

Always record details of all valuables and mobile property and take out contents insurance.

It’s important as well to look after financial records, your online passwords, bank cards, passports and driving licenses to ensure you don’t become a victim of identity theft.

There’s plenty of advice on our website advising students how to stay safe online and how not to fall victim of crime.
