I think I’m very lucky. I’ve always found myself in situations where I’ve been surrounded by a lot of love and support from my friends and my family.

I’ve stood by the belief that the giving and receiving of love is imperative to human survival.

For me, having that foundation is one of the most special things which human beings are capable of processing.

So why is it, then, that sometimes you can find yourself in a situation where you feel absolutely no love at all?

It doesn’t mean it’s not there.

In fact, you could be in the happiest of situations, laughing with your family or having a wee cuddle with your other half.

What if you’re somewhere surrounded by so much warmth and positivity but feel nothing but emptiness? What do you do then?

You start to wonder how you can fix this horrendous feeling that’s started to creep up on you.

You’re confused, not just because you don’t know how this feelings come around but also because you don’t know how it’s going to progress or when it’s going to end.

You end up sitting there feeling so alone and huge group of people and you find yourself asking: “Is this the best it’s going to get?” Although you know it’s not.

Sometimes it’s easy enough to look at a person and assume their life is all fairies and rainbow dust when the reality can be different.

Sometimes it’s not obvious when someone close to you is struggling. But what is obvious is that it doesn’t take much to reach out with a simple: “Are you OK?”

Please take the time to ask that question. It doesn’t matter what response you get, just say it. Trust me, it’ll go a long way.
