In the past couple of years, I have come to the realisation that the best type of people that you can surround yourself with are the ones who are continually positive.
I believe that if you are amongst those who are always seeking for the good in people, rather than pointing out the bad, then that way of life will soon reflect upon your own.
Turning 18 is a huge milestone and it is something which I have been looking forward to for years. That being said, I think it’s fair to say I was extremely excited about my birthday this year – not only because a lot of my friends turned 18 before me, but because it is the age that I have dreamed of being for so long. What is significant, however, is that my family and friends recognised this and resultantly made sure that my birthday was extremely special. They made my day incredible, and it was through their positivity that I was able to enjoy myself, surrounded by people who make me happy.
Similarly, results day was another instance where the support of those who make me smile was greatly needed. This year’s results may not have been as important as those of previous years, but nevertheless, I worked hard and was extremely nervous as to how my grades would shape up.
After my results came through (I am pleased to say I passed all of my subjects!) I was immediately surrounded by positivity. It was so refreshing to see the amount of genuinely nice people pass positive comments and their best wishes on to me after my results came through.
Optimism is a beautiful thing – it has the power to completely flip a situation from something bad, to something good. And, I truly believe, that the more positivity you surround yourself with, the more it will rub off on you. Surely, what more can you ask for?
