Police Call: ‘Tis the season to be safe, not sorry

This year’s festive safety message is for people to stay safe while shopping, at home, at a party or on the road.

The festive period is traditionally the busiest time of the year for shopping with many major retail areas in Falkirk as well as local traders in local shopping areas, and pop up Christmas markets.

Unfortunately, there are those who exploit the festive period but it only takes a few simple measures to discourage criminals.

More and more people use online shopping to purchase their Christmas presents.

So it’s important to take a couple of steps when purchasing goods online to keep safe.

With the festive season in full swing, many people will be out celebrating in pubs and clubs and at Christmas nights out so make sure to stay with friends, stick to your plans, have travel arranged, be careful of what you drink and don’t leave drinks unattended.

To keep your home safe, leave a light on when you’re out, keep presents and valuables out of sight, open and close your curtains at the appropriate time of day and don’t advertise on social media when you are out.

Finally, are your tyres, brakes, wiper blades and windows working and clean? It’s worth checking!
