POLICE CALL: Remain vigilant in any crowded place

As I sit writing this column I'm struck by the images I've seen of the terrorist attack in Brussels.

Again terrorists have struck at the heart of our European neighbours, targeting innocent members of the public as they go about their daily business.

And these, and many of the other locations over the past couple of years, are towns and cities we are familiar with – Paris, Tunisia, Turkey and now Brussels.

Communities can’t help to be touched by the plight of innocent victims who have had their lives destroyed by terrorist atrocities.

On behalf of all the officers in the Falkirk area I’d like to extend our sympathy to the families and friends of those affected by this tragedy.

Forth Valley Division has reviewed security arrangements in line with national guidance. I’d like to reassure you this is normal practice after such an event and not in relation to any specific intelligence.

We recognise community concerns and our officers are committed to making the Falkirk area as safe as it can be.

However, I would like to ask you to remain vigilant, especially around crowded places and transport hubs.

If you suspect something, then report it to the police.
