Officers from Falkirk joined their Forth Valley Division colleagues on Tuesday to take part in the Safer Internet Day where the theme was Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you.

Co-ordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre, many local and national organisations took part in helping promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

Our school-based officers also took part through inputs and presentations to secondary school children.

More online crimes are being reported so internet safety continues to present challenges for local officers, supported by the national computer crime unit.

But small steps may help reduce your vulnerability.

Never give out your personal details to unsolicited emails – if the email looks too good to be true, it probably is!

Never click on a link embedded in an unsolicited email; it may contain a virus.

Use secure methods of payment and double check that it is secure before committing your personal and bank details online.
