Officers from Falkirk work closely with many partners to target drug use and the misery it can cause to our communities.

Drugs are a priority for the sub division and in recent times a number of cannabis cultivations have been discovered in the area.

These cultivations can cause considerable damage to properties – electricity meters are invariably by-passed, causing significant risk to the property, the occupants engaged in growing cannabis and neighbouring homes and businesses.

Needless to say those involved pay scant heed to the dangers.

Officers in the Falkirk area have been hosting seminars as part of the Weed Them Out campaign which was launched at Falkirk Town Hall this week.

Joined by representatives from Falkirk Council, Scottish Power and the Scottish Fire and Rescue service, officers provided guidance on how to spot cannabis cultivations and the risks associated with growing the plants.

The campaign is designed to raise awareness in our communities and provide some guidance as how the public and landlords can spot a cannabis cultivation.

If you suspect anything suspicious, please report it to the police on 101.
