Police Call: Enjoy festival fun but stay safe too

It's summer festival season and many residents of the Falkirk area, both young and old, will be attending events across the country.

Our focus is on keeping people safe when travelling to, and while they are at, events.

There’s plenty of advice available to help people make the most of their festival experience. Read up, be prepared and help ensure the festivals are safe and fun for all involved.

This advice can be found on Police Scotland and various festivals’ websites.

Some of the key messages are as follows:

Know your alcohol limits;

Protect your valuables and guard against pickpockets;

Stay alert when using cash machines;

Only take items you need;

Use a service to track your mobile phone in case it’s lost;

Do not take or carry weapons, smoke canisters, flares or any pyrotechnic;

Respect local residents;

Stay with friends and in busy areas;

Plan in advance and leave enough time for your journey.

Remember the new lower drink driving limit if you are driving home in the morning.
