Operation Core is key to festive safety

As Christmas fast approaches it’s clear that Falkirk has enjoyed its fair share of Christmas revellers and last minute shoppers.

Last weekend saw officers being deployed as part of Operation Core to keep people safe, along with staff from outwith Forth Valley.

A benefit of Police Scotland is the availability of a large number of officers who can move across divisional boundaries in support of policing activity.

Last weekend local officers were supplemented by resources from across the central belt. Having worked over the weekend myself it became apparent that all these officers contributed to a great weekend out for the majority of people, with additional patrols across the Falkirk area, – walking the beat, assisting during night time economy hours and liaising with taxi drivers to ensure partygoers got home safely.

Operation Core was at the forefront of the Christmas safety initiative and contributed greatly to the reduced incidence of disorder and violence last weekend.

I know many of you will now be finished work for the holidays. On behalf of the officers and staff in the Falkirk Area Command, I wish you a peaceful and enjoyable Christmas Day.
