News, here and there

Acting Brigade secretary and CEO, Bill Stevenson, is keen to let everyone know that week by week he intends to try to visit individual companies and convey to them the important position they occupy in the various communities in which they serve.

You can find out about his whereabouts on Twitter@billBBHQ. He also encourages all of us to send in news, stories and pictures of any events to [email protected] so that they can be shared. Such a picture was recently sent, of the 2nd Polmont Junior Section (Old Church) designing paper dragons for the Chinese New Year.

Alan Hobbs, Battalion First Aid Convenor indicates a change in date for the Battalion First Aid Competitions at Haggs. Because Easter is ‘early’ this year the proposed date of March 23 falls in Holy Week, so he has rearranged things for March 30 instead.

I’ve mentioned it before that 2017 will be the Centenary of the Falkirk & District Battalion of the Boys’ Brigade. Encouragement has been sought from officers and boys to submit ideas as to things to put in place to markthis milestone. May I extend this invitation to former BB members who perhaps remember previous celebrations or events which could be repeated or updated. Many of those to whom I refer may well have been around at the 50th or 75th anniversary of the Battalion. Ideas please along with indication as to whether you as former members might wish to participate, help or perhaps even sponsor, to Anchorman in the first instance on [email protected].
