In My View: Thanks to the welcome moving was not so bad

Someone once said '˜nothing is forever'. I think somebody else offered up '˜live for the moment and don't look back' - two observations I have taken on board recently.

I have to say I wasn’t too impressed with the decision by management to close The Falkirk Herald office in Manor Street that had been ‘home’ for ten years.

The prospect of having to change location did not sit well on my shoulders.

It was quite alarming in fact facing up to the fact I would have to pack up and move out.

I was thinking: “Who needs the hassle? Is there a plan B?”

Well, should I have really worried? I think not!”

Thanks to the warm welcome from the people at Falkirk Business Hub in Vicar Street where I’m now based, I know I was getting worked up about nothing really - the whole ‘flit’ has been seamless.

It’s a busy place right enough - this ‘hot desking’ idea where people can pop in, plug in and get their work done - is really quite popular.

The space is also open, bright, inviting and well laid out.

The only downside is that after so many years of leaving a mess when I ‘clock out’ at the end of the day (this based on the sound logic I would be the one going back to it the next day) I now realise that would be bad form here so I’m suddenly learning good housekeeping skills and keeping the area where I work neat and tidy.

I suppose I could ‘moan’ about the huge flat screen on the wall behind me - but Wimbledon is on at the moment so I won’t - or complain a cafe with a brilliant menu is just a few tempting steps away if I want to indulge, but they handed out free cake last week so I won’t do that either.
