In My View: No fun and games ahead as TV programme ends

What a two weeks it has been for all of us who love the dramatic escapades of Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister and friends.

One of the biggest television shows in the history of the square box did not fail to deliver in the two concluding episodes of season six of Game of Thrones.

Don’t worry, no spoilers ahead, but the show gave fans one of the biggest battles ever seen on screen, explosions, death, dragons, new feuds, shocks, gasps and new characters.

The final episode left fans wanting more and that is when it hit me that, for the next 12 months, my Monday nights will be incredibly boring.

With season seven not hitting screens until next April, they will no longer be spent watching my favourite character battle his way through a hoard of the undead while panicking that he may not live to the end of the episode.

It is Game of Thrones after all, no-one is safe from the axe.

I am now left scratching my head as to what I can do to fill the time between now and next year.

Certainly is a bad time for me to be recovery from knee surgery as it means I have more chance of becoming King of Westeros than playing sport from now until next year.

So all I am left with is finding a new programme that will hold my interest like Hodor held the door.

Looking around I do not see much that can match up to the sheer size and brilliance of Game of Thrones so looks like I will have to settle for quiet Monday nights from now until spring 2017.

Luckily I do own most of the seasons on DVD so maybe it won’t be that bad.

April 2017 just needs to hurry up.
