Lotto windfall is only dream for me

What would I do with it all? What would I do? All thoughts dashing about my head, then I give myself a shake and remember that it’s not me so I have nothing to lose sleep over.

What am I rambling on about? The Lottery of course, or at least, the unclaimed £33 million and the elusive missing ticket.

Apparently hundreds of people have come forward and claimed that they bought the ticket that shared the mega-rollover jackpot earlier this month, including a woman who says she ‘washed’ the ticket and it no longer has the all-important barcode.

Now I know it’s not me because the Lottery folk have already said that the ticket was bought in Worcester and I’ve never been there ... but I can dream.

It’s a life-changing amount of money and it does deserve some serious thought about what you would do with it. One thing is for sure, no matter how much you say that you won’t let it happen, that amount of money will certainly make things different.

We have a wee syndicate at work and I’m glad not to be the one with the onerous task of collecting all the money and ensuring that the tickets are put on every week. Needless to say, we’ve never won much only once a £25 lift since it changed format and before that, only a handful of tenners. Not exactly enough to make us give up work, but we can dream.

In fact, I don’t know what I’d do if I won as much as £33 million.

Yes give up work but I think I would need to do something like write a book or volunteer or even start a business, definitely need to have some sort of interest to keep the old grey matter ticking over.

I’d move house but I don’t think I would want it to be too far away as I’d want to stay in touch with all my friends.

I remember hearing one couple discussing what they would do with a big Lottery win and he said that they’d make sure their friends were looked after and she said there would have to be a discussion about which friends! Obviously not his golf chums ...

It would be nice to be able to look after my family and know that I could secure the future for my grandchildren – but then I’d worry about them becoming rich brats. So perhaps it would have to be in a trust fund.

Goodness me, don’t think I’d have time to do anything but ponder what to do with my huge nest egg.

Perhaps I’d better buy a Lottery ticket this weekend if I want any of this to come true!
