Grateful to all those who help

Here at a Strathcarron Hospice we are always incredibly grateful to all those who help to financially support the hospice by giving in memory of a loved one.

Three years ago a young man called Gary, aged just 21 years, received palliative care from our team and subsequently passed away in the Hospice. Since Gary died his friends got to work on raising funds for the Hospice through various activities. Gregg, one of Gary’s close pals organises a bus to take the group of friends to football matches and much of the fundraising revolves around this. We have an initiative called ‘Pay for the Day’ which encourages people to raise enough to cover the Hospice costs for a whole day, on a day of their choice, and we have a celebration for friends and family. Led by Gregg, Gary’s friends have now celebrated a Pay for The Day two years in a row on his birthday.

Gary’s friends, a great group of young people who have put their heart and soul into raising £22,000 for Strathcarron Hospice, keep his memory amongst them very much alive. Gregg, who has been instrumental in this fundraising, has been nominated by his colleagues for a Civil Service award and we sincerely hope he gets the recognition he deserves. It was a privilege for us to care for Gary and it continues to be a privilege to be involved with his friends and family.
