The way in which we work has changed drastically out of necessity and it seems the ‘working from home’ model is here to stay for the foreseeable.

Swapping an office for a kitchen table and replacing face-to-face meetings with Google Hangouts and Zoom calls was always going to take some getting used to.

For some, homeworking may well act as a hindrance.

Such people will naturally find themselves longing to return to a more normal work environment where they can take time to themselves to think clearly and not become distracted by household tasks.

Fortunately, that’s where Falkirk Stadium’s offer comes into play.

Stadium manager Dougie Hanley kindly invited me along to try this out for myself and, as someone who’s worked from home since March, it was a highly welcome and beneficial experience.

Presented with an offer of a free warm beverage of my choosing on arrival, I was escorted to the fully sanitised 1957 Lounge – my makeshift office for the day – where I had a brilliant view of the pitch.

Various hospitality boxes have been transformed into hot desk offices and every level is kitted out with hand sanitisers and floor and wall signage reminding you of social distancing and face mask requirements.

The deal includes access to high-speed Wi-Fi and the stadium cafe which provides a mouth-watering breakfast, lunch and snack delivery service (the Scotch broth and macaroni cheese knocked my usual home-made sandwich out of the park).

Whether you would like a panini, burger or baked potato, there’s something to cater for all tastes.

I was asked to either place my order via email or phone, in keeping with the stadium’s Covid-19 safety policy, and the only thing left to do was to start work.

With no delivery drivers at the door to disrupt me, it unsurprisingly proved to be a productive day. I even found the commute there relatively enjoyable!

Throughout November, the stadium is also running a Hot Desk for a Hot Drink offer in which customers who buy a warm beverage from its cafe will be granted a private personal workspace for two hours.

Otherwise, Falkirk Stadium’s hot desks – for single occupancy only – can be secured for £10 for the first hour and then £5-per-hour thereafter, with hire fees payable on the day.

You will be asked to provide contact details to assist with the national Test and Protect system and make payments by card where possible.
