Facebook filled with nothing else but love for Jordan Coe

I sent that message on June 29 2012. I’ve always believed everything happens for a reason. We always talk about living life to the fullest and giving everything 110 per cent in the hope of creating something of a legacy.

I don’t know of many people who’ve achieved that. Jordan Coe did, though.

I remember when he broke the news to me that his dream was to move to Thailand. I was 14 and we had been chatting for a while on Facebook. I told him I wanted to be a writer, he told me he wanted to become a professional fighter.

I remember being so shocked at first. The thought of moving to another country at 18 absolutely terrified me but completely inspired him.

To this day, I’ve never met someone as ambitious.

Pushing himself to be the best person he could be was what he did brilliantly. I’m confident he’s inspired more than just me to do the same.

Usually when I click on Facebook, my newsfeed is full of nonsense articles and useless posts which have almost no significance.

On Sunday, March 26, though, it was filled with nothing else but love.

Love for an athlete, a coach, a pupil and a friend who had touched the lives of many. By no means was I was one of Jordan’s closest friends but there was a time when we were there for each other. He was, by far, one of the most genuinely caring people I’ve ever met.

God gave us Jordan to remind us of the person we could be. He reminded us to push ourselves, follow our dreams and never lose hope.

Everything happens for a reason – his was to tell us all to keep fighting. Now we will, with the knowledge that a legend with a dream is watching over us...every step of the way.
