LIKE thousands of young people across the UK one young Scout has been busy making sure he is completing as many badges as possible.

The enforced time at home has seen Rohan become expert at cooking pancakes, learn kick boxing moves on the trampoline and constructing dens from cardboard.

Rohan (11) has spent a lot of time in the garden pitching and then striking his tent while at the same time packing a rucksack for camping.

In addition, when the family has lit campfires in the garden, Rohan has been in charge of keeping it going and extinguishing it afterwards.

He and his family are taking part in an online first aid course and, according to mum Jennifer, Rohan seems to be the one who is most trustworthy to deliver first aid.

Modules have been created to help Young Leaders meet the challenge of completing their training online.

Nine modules required to achieve the Young Leader belt, along with the missions, have been set out in new guidance.

The two missing modules A and K (First Aid) can be completed face to face when social distancing ends.

With guidance from Scouts UK, the website has been put together by Braid and Pentland (Edinburgh) District’s Young Leader Training Teams and are aimed at all Young Leaders across Scotland.

Training has been moved to an online version due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal is to facilitate any Young Leader who wishes to continue their training. Further information is available at: [email protected].

CUBS from the 27th Bonnybridge Scout Group have been using their daily exercise to take on the challenge of the photographer badge.

At their recent online meeting they were asked to take photographs as they walked around the area, choose their favourite five and then post the images, along with a small description, on the Group’s Facebook page.

Just like other groups across the district, leaders are attempting to help the young members carry on their Scouting lives.
