Busy times for 2nd Larbert Company

If ever you want something done, the old adage is to ask a busy man; the assumption being he knows best how to organise his time. Perhaps, judging from some of the reports I receive and from my own perception, it should read ask a BB officer!

Although the following report refers to 2nd Larbert (Old Church) it may well apply to any one of a number of local companies with only events and involvements differing. Do please let me know.

The last couple of weeks have been busy for that company, starting with a visit for the Juniors to the Stirling Observatory to see the Leonid meteor shower. The first group got a great view of the night sky before it clouded over for the second group and the rain started. It proved a great visit where the boys learned a lot and have asked to go back. The following day the Company section was involved in the national football five-a-sides. The seniors were hosts at the Grangemouth Sports Complex and the Jjunior team travelledto Dalkeith. The rounds were hotly contested with both seniors and juniors qualifying for the next round.

Saturday, November 26, saw a number of boys helping at the church Christmas fayre, manning the games room and being fed on a diet of hot dogs before going off to Grangemouth High School to compete in the Battalion fiver-a-side tournament. Again the games were very competitive with the result, fortunately in favour of the Larbert boys, only being decided on the completion of the very last game thus enabling them to retain the trophy for a third year. Clearly the hot dogs had been run off! Sunday saw the junior section in action at the Battalion spiritual competition where 13 teams competed. 2nd Larbert retained the trophy; 8th Falkirk (Bainsford Church) and 4th Falkirk (Old Church) were second equal. John Haston, convenor, thanks all who contributed to the successful afternoon.
