A holiday spent pounding the streets

As you read this, I’ll be on holiday - unfortunately not enjoying sun, sea and sangria but as least sampling my mum’s home cooking once again.

I toyed with the idea that some national newspapers employ of simply stating ‘Colin Hume is away’ and getting someone else to pen the column on my behalf. However, having left my assistant editor in charge of the biggest papers of the year so far, I though it only fair I fill this small corner.

I’ll probably use my time off to cram in some more training.

As you’ll know by now, I’m planning to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon.

But now I’ve also signed up to cover another ‘marathon’, joining The Falkirk Herald team in the Edinburgh MoonWalk.

It’s organised by Walk the Walk, who are funding the new Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre at Forth Valley Hospital.

As a special ‘thank you’, we’re aiming to get together the biggest team ever to tackle the event ... so I’m hoping that at least 99 others agree to join me.

It’s a great event for a worthy cause and, for those of you who are part of the Herald contingent, we’ll be making it extra-special with a few surprises up our sleeves!
