The future of a multi-million pound development remains uncertain despite infrastructure being put in place to get it off the ground.
A new road layout was created at Gilston Park in Polmont earlier this year by developers Hansteen Ltd, but no work has been carried out since.
Outline planning permission has been in place since 2001 for a hotel and conference centre, car showrooms, a garden centre, sports and fitness centre, 150 houses and community woodland, but only a roundabout and upgrade to the adjoining road have been completed so far.
A number of planning conditions regarding habitat management, design strategy, travel plans and ecology have to be met by the developer, which is slowing the building process up, as new planning applications must be made for each one.
There have also been a series of rows between Hansteen and Falkirk Council over the years.
Councillor Malcolm Nicol, who has objected to the development from the start, said: “For me, no news is good news but my constituents are getting fed up with it.
“It will be an unattractive, commercial development and I’d rather see the retention of the green space.”
Nobody from Hansteen was available for comment.
