New scrap deadline for auto salvage yard

At a meeting of Falkirk Council’s planning committee last Wednesday members heard the All Parts yard in Hillview, High Bonnybridge, which is reportedly being monitored continuously by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), was starting work to reduce the level of scrap on its premises so its maximum height does not exceed five metres.

Convener Billy Buchanan said: “The residents that live in the area keep asking when this work is going to be completed. The residents are really concerned about the scrap metal that’s visible at the top of the hill.

“This matter has been like drawing teeth but the main issue is the removal of all that scrap.”

Councillor John McLuckie said: “To me it looks like there is a big improvement from what it was before.”

Members heard the work to reduce the height of the scrap was scheduled to commence on Monday and the site owners were given until the next meeting of the planning committee on Monday, March 7 to complete the task.

Council officers stated enforcement action was not required at this time, but was an option in the future should All Parts fail to reduce the height of the scrap in the allotted time.
