NHS Forth Valley has appointed Mr Andrew Murray as its new Medical Director. Andrew, who is currently the Medical Director at NHS Borders, will take up his new post in February. He replaces Miss Tracy Gillies who is moving to NHS Lothian.
He said: “I am very much looking forward to my new role with NHS Forth Valley and to meeting and working with staff across the organisation to further improve the quality and safety of local patient care.”
Mr Murray graduated from Glasgow University in 1988 and worked in Scotland and New Zealand until 2001, when he moved to NHS Ayrshire and Arran as a Consultant ENT surgeon, Clinical Director and then Associate Medical Director before taking up his current post as Medical Director with NHS Borders.
NHS Forth Valley Chief Executive Jane Grant said: “I am delighted that Andrew has
accepted the post of Medical Director.
“As well as being an experienced clinician, he has a strong track record in medical leadership and management and I am very much looking forward to working with him to drive forward further healthcare improvements across Forth Valley.”
Andrew is a founding member of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management and has led the redesign of a wide range of medical services.
He has also developed and implemented new models of care across community and acute hospitals.
