A three-car crash on the M9 further held up rush hour traffic this morning.
Allthough there were no serious injuries and all vehicles involved in the incident – on the northbound carriageway near junction six - were quickly moved to the hard shoulder both lanes were closed for some time while police attended.
The problems have again been exacerbated by the return of the heavy rain which plagued the area on Saturday and the continued closure of the Forth Road Bridge.
The approaches to the Kincardine and Clackmannanshire bridges have been very busy all morning.
Meanwhile trains between Falkirk Grahamston and Glasgow have been replaced by buses to allow carriages to be moved to services between Fife and Edinburgh, which is having to accommodate more passengers with the Forth Road Bridge shut until the new year.
