Metal bins on the way to stop fire raisers
At a meeting of Falkirk Council’s external scrutiny committee today, members heard from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on the subject of wilful fire raising and the fact that certain areas Falkirk are ‘hotspots’ for wheelie bins being set alight.
Metal bins were said to be more expenisive than plastic bins, but were identified as one way of stopping this form of anti-social behaviour.

Hide AdThe council’s director of development services Rhona Geisler said: “We have used metal bins in the past in certain places and we have them on order – they may even have arrived now – ready to be sent to locations identified as hotspots by the fire and rescue service.”
