Many first dates for couples were spent at the old cinemas in Falkirk whether it was the Odeon, the Regal (now City nightclub), the Roxy, ABC, Pavilion, Gaumont or the Hippodrome in Bo’ness.

Falkirk Community Trust is revisiting those heady days of cinema from the early 20th century on February 12 in Falkirk Town Hall’s cafe bar at 2pm. It’s the second Memories of ... Cinema event from Falkirk Community Trust after the first received great feedback from the audience.

There will be a few changes from the original one with February’s screening featuring a more romantic edge for the Valentine’s theme with clips from classic love movies such as The Sound of Music and Casablanca, as well as a quiz on screen couples.

The nostalgic journey will also include extracts including the famous Pearl and Dean advert, newsreels from the Scottish Screen Archive and wartime radio propaganda broadcaster Lord Haw-Haw.

Trust learning assistant Jennifer Thomson said: “The first one we held went down great with the audience and we think this one will be even better.”

Tickets are £3.50. To book a place call (01324) 506850.
