A popular fast food chain is looking to grow its business in Falkirk.

McDonald’s Restaurants has lodged a planning application with the council to extend its eatery in the town’s Central Retail Park.

At the same time the company is also looking for approval to install new-look illuminated advertising above its premises.

A decision on both bids is expected from town hall planning officers by the middle of January.

McDonald’s, founded in 1955 in Illinois, is the largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants in the world serving over 68 million customers from more than 36,000 outlets in 119 countries.

It offers beef or chicken baps, salads, sides and drinks.
