Scottish Nationalist Michael Matheson has retained his seat in the Scottish Parliament with a massively increased majority.

Last time around he defeated Labour’s Denis Goldie by just 776 votes.

But this year he polled 15,607 to give him a 5745 majority over the former Falkirk provost on 9862.

Allan Finnie was third for the Conservatives with Liberal Democrat Callum Chomczuk fourth.

Dennis Goldie (Labour) - 9862 (35%)

Allan Finnie (Conservative) - 2086 (7.4%)

Callum Chomczuk (Liberal Democrat) - 644 (2.3%)

Turnout - 28,199 (47.9%)

Majority - 5745

8.9% swing from Labour to SNP
