The Our Place Camelon is being driven by local people and the Community Enterprise organisation to make the communities a safer, happier and more attractive place to live.
Camelon is recognised as an area of deprivation and it is hoped the project can help bring some prosperity back
A vision has been created which includes proactive activities such as a community newspaper, residents having their say on local services and the community getting involved in improving play parks and sports fields.
Other initiatives will see the group tackling issues like antisocial behaviour and the impact of addiction, making leisure activities affordable, bringing derelict buildings back into use and road safety.

Funding of £100,000 has been approved by the Big Lottery Fund which will finance a three-year programme to deliver the aims as well as events like Mariner’s Day and the Camelon Winter Festival.
The vision states: “People in Camelon like the friendliness of the people who live here as well as the strong community spirit and pride in the area. However, people describe a desire to have more of a say in decisions made locally. When talking to people, physical spaces were identified as bringing local pride in the area down. There are significant and obvious opportunities for improvements.”
