Man punched after theft of golf clubs

A man was attacked as he gave chase when his golf clubs were stolen.

The incident at Falkirk Golf Club in the town’s Stirling Road happened at around 7.15am on Saturday.

The 58-year-old victim had just parked his Ford Mondeo in the car park next to the course when a man approached asked for help.

As he got out the car, the man closed the door on him while an accomplice opened the boot and stole the golf clubs.

The man who took the golf clubs ran off towards Camelon Crematorium.

The victim chased the other suspect as he ran along Stirling Road towards Camelon and, after a short struggle, was punched on the face.

Local officers are now carrying out various lines of inquiry and anyone who can assist is asked to come forward.

The first suspect is described as white, late teens or early 20s, 5ft 9-10in with a slim face. He was wearing a dark jacket, dark trousers and dark shoes.

The second man is described as being white, of a similar height and build, and was also wearing dark clothing.

Detective Sergeant Colin Moffat said: “Thankfully, the victim was not seriously hurt during this robbery but was understandably shaken and upset at the theft of his golf clubs.

“I would ask anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in the Stirling Road area on Saturday morning to contact police immediately.

“In addition, anyone who recognises the description of the suspects and can help identify them should also get in touch.”
