Man in court after Indian takeaway death

A Falkirk man has appeared in court accused of murdering another man at an Indian takeaway.

Hidayet Ozden (52) appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court otoday.

He is charged with murdering Shahzad Shah (56), in Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, on Monday. He also faces a charge of assault.

Ozden made no plea or declaration at the private court hearing and was committed for further examination.

The Crown Office said he was remanded in custody and is expected to appear at a further hearing on April 21.

Officers were called to reports of a man collapsing at the food outlet, named in reports as Mirchi Tandoori, on Monday evening following an alleged incident. Police said he died at the scene.
