The Minto and McKean families from Falkirk – along with pet dog Angus - were among the crowds enjoying today’s high temperatures.

With school summer holidays stretching to eight weeks this year and not much good weather so far, everyone was determined to make the most of it.

Temperatures topped 29C on Scotland’s hottest day of the year so far – but this brought a warning of overnight downpours and thunderstorms.

The Met Office said the warm air brought a risk of lightning, hail, storms and flash flooding later on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.
