Maddiston & Rumford Local History Group is holding a slide show on Friday, November 21 in Maddiston Community Centre. We’re concentrating on the area from Rumford and Craigs through Greenwells past the Blocks to Manuelrigg. We’ll have a look at the new school and the sad demolition of our old, well-loved school. No charge will be made for the slide show, but donations are welcome for the cup of tea and biscuits at midway when we stop for tea and a blether. Everyone will be made welcome.
Last Sunday, a very meaningful Remembrance Service was held in Church. This service was conducted by both our minister Rev. Louise McClements and Mrs Amanda McQuarrie. During the Intimations a warm welcome was given to Mrs Jacqueline Dignan who was our Organist for the service. During the service the appropriate Solo ‘Bring Him Home’ was sung by Miss Amy Paterson. A worthy round of applause was given to her afterwards. The ‘Two minute silence’ was also observed during the Service. A fitting service all round. This Sunday the Service in Muiravonside Parish Church will commence at the usual time of 11.30 a.m. and will be conducted by Mrs Amanda McQuarrie. The Sunday Club meets at the same time. Note: The Christmas Fayre takes place in Whitecross on Saturday, November 29 at 11 a.m. More information next week.
