Credit Union

Savings are safe with Falkirk District Credit Union and low cost loans are available once regular savings established. Anyone who lives or works in the area within the boundary of Falkirk Council can join, junior savers welcome. For details on how to join please phone the main office in Grangemouth on (01324) 473695, visit the website or pop into your local branch at Maddiston Community Education Centre, which is open every Friday from 10 a.m.-12 noon. New volunteers are needed for this collection, if you have a couple of hours to spare on a Friday morning please contact the office on (01324) 473695 or call in at the collection for an application form.

Camera club

Anyone with an interest in taking photographs, or photography generally, is invited to attend the above club when it meets every Wednesday in The Braes Children and Family Centre in Forgie Crescent from 7 - 8.30 p.m. The group, which has changed name to Braes Camera Club, has operated for some time at the site and the organisers would be happy to welcome new members.

Community centre

Events at Maddiston Community Centre for the following are as follows - Today (Thursday): Giggles Toddlers Group, 12.30-2.30 p.m.; Local History Group (last Thursday every month), 1-3 p.m., Ju-Jitsu, 7-9 p.m.; Friday: Community Café, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (come along have a cuppa and something to eat, meet other members of the community); Credit Union, 10 a.m. - noon; Tuesday: Giggles (toddlers group), 9.30 - 11.30 a.m., Ju-Jitsu, 7 – 9 p.m.; Wednesday: Fast Track IT class is being held 9.30 – 11.30 a.m. (call (01324) 501696 for information). We also have an IT suite for public use for internet access, e-mail access, filling in online forms, job searches homework and printing/copying. Salvation Army

A warm welcome awaits you at Maddiston Salvation Army. Morning Worship is every Sunday at 10.30 a.m. in the Salvation Army Centre, Main Street, Maddiston. The weekly programme is as follows: Tuesday - Lunch Club, 12.30 p.m.; Ladies’ Meeting, 2 p.m.; Kids Club (5 - 12 year olds), 5.30 p.m. Thursday - Parent & Toddlers, 9.30 a.m.; Bible Study, 6 p.m. Friday - Parent & Toddlers, 9.30 a.m. All welcome. Golf club

Wee Reekie’s disco returns to the club on Saturday, June 7, between 8.30 p.m. and midnight. Tickets, priced £2, can be booked with Tam Forsyth and Zander, or enquire at the bar. Meanwhile, a domino competition goes ahead every Sunday in the Manuelrigg premises at 4 p.m. All are welcome and winners can look forward to the first prize of a Coo Pie.

Community council

The Community Council is delighted to confirm that the Veteran’s Minister Mr Keith Brown will be attending along with our local MP Michael Connarty at the commissioning of the war memorial in Maddiston, to be held on Saturday, June 21 at 11 a.m. Further details to follow. A reminder for the old folks lunch this Friday and the drop-in on Saturday morning in the community centre to discuss locations for a communal growing area.
