Maddiston Community Council will be holding its next meeting on Thursday, April 2 at 7 p.m. in the community centre. All are welcome. Issues will include the petition to stop the practice of spreading sewage on fields, the progress on upgrading our footpaths, work taking place on the growing area and football pitch improvements. Other issues including housing development in the area and the pressure on Nicholton Road due to the Polmont rail bridge closure.

Sunday Worship is at 10.30 a.m. in the Salvation Army Centre, Main Street, Maddiston, FK2 0LU. For further information contact (01324) 711793. We are always looking to develop our programme and are looking for volunteers. The weekly programme is - Mondays: 5.45 p.m. – Praise Group, 6.30 p.m. Songsters (Choir). Tuesdays: 11 a.m. - Prayer Meeting; 12.30 p.m. – Lunch Club, two-course meal plus tea/coffee & biscuits (£3); 2 p.m. - Home League (Ladies Meeting); 5.30 p.m. – Kidz Club. Thursdays: Parent and Toddlers, 9.30 a.m.; Fridays: 9.30 a.m. - Parent and Toddlers; 5.45 p.m. – Praise Group; 6.30 p.m. - Band. On Sunday, our Palm Sunday Service will be led by our Minister, Envoy David Robertson. On Good Friday (April 3) we have a Fellowship Breakfast at 9.15 a.m. followed by our Good Friday Service. On Easter Sunday we have our Service at 10.30 a.m. followed by a buffet lunch and then our band will be playing at Tesco, Redding. Please join us at this special time of year.
Events and activities on at Maddiston Community Centre for today and the next week include; Today (Thursday) Maddiston & Rumford Local History Group meets 1.30-3.30 p.m.; the Kempo Ju-Jitsu club is on 7–9 p.m.; On Friday the Credit Union will be open 10 a.m.–noon; the Community Café is open 8.45 a.m.–1 p.m. On Monday the Personal Development Group will meet from 9.30–11.30 a.m. (call 01324 720960 for information). On Tuesday the Giggles Group will meet 9.30–11.30 a.m.; Kempo Ju-Jitsu meet 7-9 p.m; On Wednesday the child-minding group meets 9.30–11.30 a.m. and a Fast Track IT class is held from 9.30–11.30 a.m. (call 501696 for information). The Youth Clubs for P1-P4 at 5.30-6.30 p.m. and for P5-P7 at 6.45-7.45 p.m. We also have an IT suite for public use for internet access, e-mail access, filling in online forms, job searches, homework and printing/copying. A domino competition goes ahead at the Manuelrigg premises every Sunday afternoon when the winner can pick up a coo pie.
Last Sunday, morning service in Muiravonside Parish Church was conducted by Rev. Louise McClements. During the Intimations, a warm welcome was given to Mrs Jacqueline Dignan, our organist for the service. Intimation was given that Mrs Mary Gardner had reached the age of 90. A presentation of a basket of flowers made for her in her absence and will be presented to her at her home. This was followed by a round of applause. Congratulations Mary. The A.S.M took place after the service and after all reports by the elders for Finance, Property, the Session Clerk, and the Minister were made, a vote of acceptance was made in favour by attending congregation. This Sunday, the service in Muiravonside Parish Church will commence at the usual time of 11.30 a.m. and will be conducted by the Minister Rev. Ray Thomson. The Sunday Club meets at the same time. The Holy Week Service take place at 7 p.m. in the following churches - Monday: Slamannan Bowling club. Tuesday: Wallacestone Methodist Church. Wednesday: Polmont Old Parish Church. Thursday: Laurieston Parish Church. Friday: Brightons Parish Church.
The Youth Club meets on Friday, from 7.30-9 p.m. in the Maddiston Community Centre. All S1-6 your welcome. Sunday services start at 10 a.m. with Communion. The family service starts at 11.30 a.m. when the speaker will be Brian Lowrie from Motherwell. The Praise Band will also be taking part. Children and young teens can go into their own groups at noon - Discovery Club Extra, Creche and Youth Bible Group. The evening service will be at 6.30 p.m. when the speaker will be Gavin Matthews from Perth. This will take the form of a Youth Focus service when one of the topics requested by our young people “Does religion do more harm than good?” will be looked at. The parent and toddler group meets at 9.30 a.m. on Monday. The Discovery Club end of session prizegiving will be held at 6.30 p.m. Come along and support the children and give a friendly welcome to parents. The Prayer Meeting is on Wedneday at 7.30 p.m.
