History Group

Maddiston & Rumford Local History Group will hold its next meeting on Monday from 1-3 p.m., all welcome.

Muiravonside Church

Last Sunday morning service was conducted by the Rev. Louise McClements. During the intimations a warm welcome was given to Mrs Jacqueline Dignan who was our organist for the service. Before the start of the service the minister wished all in attendance a very ‘Happy New Year’. This Sunday the service will commence at the usual time of 11.30 a.m. and will be conducted by Rev. Ray Thomson. The ‘Sunday Club’ re-starts this Sunday. Anyone who is housebound or unable to get to church and interested in receiving a copy of the morning service please see Jackie Napier.

Camera Club

Anyone with an interest in taking photographs or photography generally is invited to attend the above club when it meets every Wednesday in The Braes Children and Family Centre in Forgie Crescent from 7 - 8.30 p.m. The group, which has changed name to Braes Camera Club, has operated for some time at the site and the organisers would be happy to welcome new members.

Golf Club

Another night of entertainment has been arranged for this Saturday when popular four piece band the Van Ds returns to the club. The event runs from 8.30 p.m. until 12.45 a.m. and tickets, priced £5, are available from Tam Forsyth, Zander or at the bar. There will be no admittance at the door on the night. The evening is in support of the Institute of Neurological Science at Glasgow’s Southern General Hospital and all are welcome. Meanwhile, a domino competition continues every Sunday afternoon at the Manuelrigg Premises when a Coo Pie can be won.

Evangelical Church

The Youth Club resumes for a new session (tomorrow) Friday at 7.30 p.m. in Maddiston Community Centre. All S1-S6 youth welcome. Sunday services begin at 10 a.m. with Communion. The family service starts at 11.30 a.m. The guest speaker will be Maurice Robinson from Larbert. Those going into their own groups will leave the service at noon, creche for under 3’s, Discovery Club Extra for children aged P3-P7 and Youth Bible Group for S1-S6. The evening service is at 6.30 p.m. when there will be Bible teaching from Iain Gibb from Falkirk. His topic is entitled ‘An overview of the Psalms’. Parent and toddler group restarts on Monday at 9.30 a.m. The Discovery Club will start at 6.30 p.m. The Men’s Fellowship will meet on Tuesday at 2.15 p.m., with speaker Bryan Dick from Maddiston. Prayer meeting will take place on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m.

School Enrolment

Enrolment for primary one pupils beginning Maddiston Primary School in August 2015 takes place on Tuesday, January 13 and Wednesday, January 14 from 9.30 a.m.-3 p.m.
