Credit Union

Savings are safe with Falkirk District Credit Union and low cost loans are available once regular savings established. Anyone who lives or works in the area within the boundary of Falkirk Council can join, junior savers welcome. For details on how to join please phone the main office in Grangemouth on (01324) 473695, visit our website or pop into your local branch at Maddiston Community Education Centre, which is open every Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. Please note this collection will be closed on Good Friday (April 18).

Evangelical Church

The family service at 11.30 a.m. will be taken by Tom Stables from Bo’ness. The soloist will be Eleanor Clydesdale from Brightons. Children and young teenagers can go into their own groups, Discovery Club Extra, Creche, and Youth Bible at noon. The Easter Praise service will start at 6.30 p.m. The prayer meeting will be on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m.

Muiravonside Church

Last Sunday, Morning Service was conducted by Amanda McQuarrie. During the Intimations a warm welcome was given to Ian Ritchie who was our organist for the Service. Easter Sunday - Morning Service will be held at the usual time of 11.30 a.m. and will be conducted by the Minister. The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated during this Service. The Sunday Club meets at the same time. During Holy Week the Good Friday Service will be held in Muiravonside and starts at 7 p.m. Tea and coffee will be provided after the Service. Our Church is now registered with Falkirk Foodbank. If you, as members, know anyone in the Parish who would benefit from food parcels, please give their names to the Minister. There are boxes in the Church for your donations to both this project, and for the Falkirk Homeless Project. Anyone interested in receiving a CD of the Service, please contact Jackie Napier.

Camera Club

Anyone with an interest in taking photographs, or photography generally, is invited to attend the above club when it meets every Wednesday in The Braes Children and Family Centre in Forgie Crescent from 7 - 8.30 p.m. The group, which has changed name to Braes Camera Club, has operated for some time at the site and the organisers would be happy to welcome new members.

Community Centre

Events and activities on at Maddiston Community Centre for today and the next week include; Today (Thursday) - Ju Jitsu, 7 - 9 p.m.; Friday and Monday - closed for public holiday; Tuesday - Giggles (toddlers group), 9.30-11.30 a.m.; Ju Jitsu, 7 – 9 p.m.; Wednesday - Fast Track IT class is being held from 9.30 – 11.30 a.m. (call 501696 for information). Also Central Equality is calling all young people aged 10+ to get involved in drama, performance and meeting new people. The project is an innovative new theatre project for young people aged 10+ that will use drama to explore and challenge sectarianism in the community on Wednesday at 4.30 - 5.30 p.m. for P4-P7. Salvation Army

A warm welcome awaits you at Maddiston Salvation Army. Morning Worship is every Sunday at 10.30 a.m. in the Salvation Army Centre, Main Street, Maddiston. The weekly programme is as follows: Tuesday - Lunch Club, 12.30 p.m.; Ladies’ Meeting, 2 p.m.; Kids Club (5 - 12 year olds), 5.30 p.m. Thursday - Parent & Toddlers, 9.30 a.m.; Bible Study, 6 p.m. Friday - Parent & Toddlers, 9.30 a.m. All welcome. Golf Club

Wee Reekie’s Disco will provide the music at Polmont Golf Club on Saturday, May 3 from 8.30 p.m. - 12.30 a.m. Tickets, priced £3, are available from Tam Forsyth, Zander or from the bar. There is no entry without tickets on the night. A domino competition goes ahead every Sunday in the Manuelrigg premises at 4 p.m. All are welcome and winners can look forward to the first prize of a Coo Pie.

Community Council

Maddiston Community Council continues to explore the opportunity of acquiring the fire services building. Senior citizens should be reminded that they are welcome to attend the concert at the Inchyra Hotel on Thursday, April 24 leaving the community centre at 6.15 p.m., and our lunch on Friday, April 25 at midday in the community centre. Please book at the community centre. The visit to view the badgers at Muiravonside on April 25 is now fully booked. Good news - rumours that the bridge at Polmont was to be close early have been dismissed by Network Rail. Meanwhile, a new bus shelter will be erected to replace the damaged one in Main Street and work on the war memorial will start in early May.
