Evangelical Church

Maddiston Evangelical Church will hold a family service at 11.30 a.m. on Sunday. It will be taken by George Martin of Bishopbriggs. Children and young teenagers can go in their own groups. Discovery Extra, creche and youth Bible group at noon. The evening service at 6.30 p.m. will be lead by Harvey Stalker of Edinburgh. Prayer meeting on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m.

Credit Union

Savings are safe with Falkirk District Credit Union and low cost loans are available once regular savings established. Anyone who lives or works in the area within the boundary of Falkirk Council can join, junior savers welcome. Parish Church

Last Sunday, morning service in Muiravonside Parish Church was conducted by Amanda Mc.Quarrie. During the Intimations a warm welcome was given to Ian Ritchie who was our organist for the Service. Anyone interested in receiving a C.D. of the Service, contact Jack Napier The ‘Food Bank’ and the Falkirk Homeless Project. There are boxes in Church for your donations to both of these projects. Our Church is now registered with Falkirk Food Bank. If you, as members, know of anyone in the Parish who would benefit from food parcels, then please give their names to the minister. This ‘Palm Sunday.’ Morning service starts at the usual time of 11.30 a.m. and the Sevice will again be conducted by Amanda McQuarrie, and the Reverend Louise Mc Clements. The Sunday Club meets at the same time. The ‘Good Friday’ Service during Holy Week takes place here in Muiravonside. Community Council

Last Thursday’s community council meeting was well attended to hear a presentation from Scottish Water concerning the problems over sewage, drainage and water supply in Maddiston and the Braes. Other issues raised included concerns over the delays in installing the gas network which is down to Gas network Scotland and the traffic congestion following the Redding bridge closure. Positive news was received on the joint projects that the community council and Falkirk Council are progressing including the location/ construction of the war memorial, the park upgrading and the growing area. The first senior’s lunch is being held on Friday, April 25, and in addition pensioners are invited by the Rotary Club of Polmont to a variety concert at the Inchyra Hotel on April 24. History Group

The Local History Group are holding a slide show in Maddiston Community Centre tomorrow (Friday) April 11 beginning at 7 p.m., this is our first slide show for quite some time so take the opportunity to see the parish as it was as the changes to the area are coming quick and fast. This is the chance for those who have just moved into the area to see how it used to be and for those who were born and brought up here to reminisce a little. There will be a break for tea/coffee and a blether at half time, all ages welcome. Will members please note there will be no meeting on Monday, April 14.

Salvation Army

A warm welcome awaits you at Maddiston Salvation Army. Morning Worship is every Sunday at 10.30 a.m. in the Salvation Army Centre, Main Street, Maddiston. The weekly programme is as follows: Tuesday- Lunch Club at 12.30 p.m. Ladies meeting 2 p.m. Kids Club (5–12 year olds) 5.30 p.m. Thursday – Parent and Toddlers 9.30 a.m. Bible Study 6 p.m. Friday – Parent and Toddlers 9.30 a.m. All welcome. Golf Club

A domino competition goes ahead every Sunday in the Manuelrigg premises at 4.p.m. All are welcome and winners can look forward to the first prize of a Coo Pie.

Centre Events

The events taking place at Maddiston Community Centre for today and the next week include; Today (Thursday) Ju Jitsu 7 - 9 p.m. On Friday the Credit Union will be open 10 a.m.–noon and the Community Café is also open 8.45 – 12:30 p.m; Tuesday Ju Jitsu 7– 9 p.m., On Wednesday Fast Track I.T class is being held 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. (call 501696 for information), We also have an I.T suite for public use for internet access, email access, filling in online forms, job searches homework and printing/copying.
