M9 closed due to flooding

Police are warning motorists to watch out while driving today following road closures due to the weather.

The M9 southbound carriageway at junction 9 is currently closed causing traffic congestion in the Stirling area. Diversions are in place.

Other road closures in the Forth Valley area include the A85 Lochearnhead to Crieff road and the B829 Aberfoyle to Kinlochard Road.

There are other areas which are experiencing flooding, but are passable with care and police are reminding motorists not to drive into flood water.

Stirling Area Commander Chief Inspector Paul Rollo said: “There is significant surface water on the M9 motorway and the rural road networks and we would ask motorists to follow the weather warnings and monitor social media before they travel.”

Police Scotland say officers are working with partners, Traffic Scotland, SEPA, Amey and Stirling Council to keep traffic moving.
