The lull before the storm

The Christmas break allowed officers to relax away from the weekly biz of company activities but over the last few days a host of emails has hit my screen seeking action from such refreshed souls, which will again involve all sections in engagement of boys and staff in a spread of activities.

With ‘TurnaBBouT’, our annual alternative worship event on March 4 at FTH, responses are needed indicating numbers and pictures of boys involved in BB activities sought for use on the night.

The Battalion is hosting the BB National Final of five-a-sides and volunteers are required to undertake a few of the tasks for the event from accommodation to escorting visiting teams. President, Daniel Green will be having a meeting tonight (Thursday) and any offer will be well received.

Owen Fleming from 1st Larbert (West Church) is arranging a new competition for the battalion; ‘mini basketball’ more suited to smaller halls. It will take place on February 20 but he needs to know soon, what teams may be taking part.

Junior Section five-a-sides will be at Carronvale House on January 23 but Billy Rankine from 1st Polmont (Brightons Church) will take entries right up to January 16.

The annual Anchorboy Fun Day will take place at Larbert Old Church on January 30 and Mhairi Smith from 1st Grangemouth (Abbotsgrange Church) seeks information as to numbers attending.

Just in case officers feel left out or have any energy left, a ‘Fish Supper Quiz’ has been organised in support of the Carronvale House Appeal; to take place there, on January 30. Teams of up to six can enter this fun event (entry fee £10 per head).

All of this seems belied somehow with notice that due to nothing in the way of recent activities, the junior section committee meeting for January 18 is cancelled.
