Liz will lead Maggie's Forth Valley Centre

Liz MacMillan will oversee everything tha happens in the facility which is currently under construction in the grounds of Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.

Due to open later this year, it will provide free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their family and friends.

As centre head, Liz will oversee everything that happens in the building, support visitors, manage a programme of support and mentor staff.

As the former ward manager for the Oncology Unit at the Larbert hospital, Liz is well known in the local community and has valuable links with NHS staff which will help to ensure the ongoing relationship with NHS Forth Valley continues to be a success.

Liz said: “I am delighted to be appointed and I am greatly looking forward to leading a team of professional staff when the centre opens later this year.

“I was delighted when I originally heard the news that Forth Valley was to have a Maggie’s Centre and always hoped one day I might be part of team providing the highest quality support to people with cancer across Forth Valley.”

She also paid tribute to The Moonwalk Scotland which funded the construction of the new facility, adding: “I am also hugely grateful to everyone who has ever taken part in The MoonWalk Scotland or has even sponsored someone doing it as it is their determination and goodwill which has made Maggie’s Forth Valley a reality.”

This year’s MoonWalk Scotland will take place on June 11 in Edinburgh.

The Forth Valley centre will also be Maggie’s 20th Centre, opening in Maggie’s 20th anniversary year.

Maggie’s relies on voluntary donations to support and grow its network of Centres and to develop its unique, high quality programme of support. The charity’s aim is to make the biggest difference possible to people living with cancer and their family and friends.
