A new initiative entitled Walking with Words is combining literature with fitness and allowing people to explore their landscape and learn about local heritage.
The walkers who ventured out to The Helix to see the Kelpies this week were joined by television presenter Clare Balding, who was recording the event for her radio show. The Kelpie adventure was the first of a series of four walks over the course of four weeks. Falkirk Library’s reader in residence Jan Bee Brown, who is leading the walks, said: “On these creative walks we will compare and contrast past and present, discovering how the local landscape has been transformed by the Forth and Clyde canal. If you are fascinated by folklore, love a good story, enjoy playing with words and a good walk then venture forth. Visit www.falkirkcommunitytrust.org for more.
