Lily sheds her locks to boost children's charity

Carronshore Primary School pupil Lily Webster is currently feeling the cold during her Easter break following her fundraising haircut for the Little Princess Trust last week.

Proud mum Jody (32) said: “A family member had her hair cut for a different charity and Lily thought, ‘I have long hair, I could do that too’. We looked at all the various charities and she picked the Little Princess Trust.”

Lily’s sacrifice – she gave up a good 16 inches of her locks – also raised £754 for the charity, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other conditions. Aiding and abetting in this chopping experience was hairdresser Scott Penn who made sure Lily’s new short look was as stylish as possible.

Jody said: “She’s struggling a wee bit because her hair is naturally curly so we have to keep straightening it now. She says she is going to grow it back and then have it cut for the charity again.

“I’m so proud of her. What she has done is even more impressive because she wouldn’t even let me near her hair or have it cut before this.”

The Little Princess Trust was launched in 2006 by the parents of Hannah Tarplee, a little girl who sadly died of cancer in 2005. The charity has gone on to help thousands of boys and girls, working with suppliers throughout the UK and Ireland to produce real hair wigs.
