An adventurous mum is appealing for funds to help her compete in a 2000-mile European rally.
Melanie Greig from Laurieston set up Team Scottish Bairns last year and was part of the only group from Scotland involved in the Help for Heroes 4x4 European Rally.
But in Stuttgart, two days before the 14-week event finished, her truck broke down forcing her out of the rally.
Now she can’t wait to give it another go.
Mum-of-four Melanie said: “Last year, I saw a picture of two servicemen who had lost limbs in Afghanistan.
“Three of my sons were very close to their age and I was very affected by this and by seeing them smiling and happy despite horrific injuries.
“I decided that day that I was going to raise money for Help for Heroes.
“I’d never taken part in a rally, or even fundraised before, but I was determined I was going to do it.”
In the past 12 months, Melanie estimates she has raised £28,000.
And for this year’s rally, which sets off on June 15 covering parts of France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Austria and Germany, Melaine is looking to raise £4000 to cover running costs.
And she’s willing to offer advertising space on her trusty vehicle, Mucky, in exchange for financial help.
She said: “If anyone can help in any way, however small, please get in touch.
“There is advertising space available on my vehicle, which I take to presentations and events, and the rally has a large following and receives press coverage all over Europe.”
Anyone who would like to help Melanie with her costs, visit her at Central Retail Park this week or call 07830 939666.
