Scottish Country Dancing
The Reel Jig Club starts on Monday, June 1 and runs until August 24 in Laurieston Church Hall, with tutor Elspeth Walker.
Laurieston Spiritualist Church on Monday, May 25 will have John Beattie from Falkirk as guest medium for its service in the Old Folks Welfare Hall in Mary Street. Doors open 6.45 p.m., service 7.30 p.m. Everyone welcome.
The preacher at the 4 p.m. Sunday meeting in the Cotton Lane Gospel Hall will be Mr Robert Orr from Laurieston. Please note the change of time. Everyone is warmly welcomed.
The Church of Scotland General Assembly meets in Edinburgh until tomorrow, Friday, May 22. All the papers can be downloaded from www.gapublications.co.uk and you can watch proceedings live on the church website www.churchofscotland.org.uk Sincere thanks to those who came along on Monday morning and helped load the skip with all the material from the side of the church. Many hands did make light work. On door duty next Sunday, May 24 are Mrs M. Hoggan, Mrs M. Erskine, Miss M. Brown and Mr S. Arneil. The flowers for May 24 are being donated by M. Ross. On tea duty on May 24 are Mrs M. Andrew, Mrs J. White, Mrs C. Park and Mrs S. Marshall. Polmont Young Offenders Institution Tea Bar are looking for people who can spare a couple of hours to help serve teas, coffees, soft drinks and snacks to visiting family members, many of whom have long distances to travel. A concert will be held on Tuesday, June 2 at 7pm in St Andrew’s West Church, Falkirk, with the Sine Nomine Singers of Valdosta; donations to Strathcarron Hospice.
The next event will be a clothes show which will be held in the Old Folks Hall on Friday, May 29 at 7.30 p.m. This is something new and we hope it will be a success. Please go along and give your support. Tickets are £3 or pay at the door. All welcome. Tickets for the annual outing which this year is going to Ayr on Tuesday, June 23, are now on sale during the coffee mornings. The price this year is £10 which includes a picnic lunch.
