It’s the sixth year of the comedy festival that has tickled audiences with a range of funnymen and women from household stars to local and rising talent, which also provides a much-needed boost to the local economy.

The award-winning Bruce Fummey, a former physics teacher at Larbert High, kicks things off tonight (Thursday) in Behind The Wall with his A History of Scotland show at 8pm.

Magic will be provided by Victorian duo Morgan & West the Time Travelling Magicians at Falkirk Stadium tomorrow followed by a host of talent playing gigs in 11 venues in Falkirk, Denny, Bo’ness, Stenhousemuir and Grangemouth until October 25.

Town centre management group Falkirk Delivers say the festival has been well promoted and has helped enhance the district’s reputation as an area of interest.

Assistant manager Sarah McKenzie said: “Falkirk Delivers and our partners are delighted to be bringing Funny in Falkirk back to the Falkirk area again this year. The festival was commissioned for another year after a glowing and positive response was received.

“Our comedy festival has now become part of the Falkirk scene, and I’m sure that this year’s fantastic programme will be another resounding success. Our aims are to reach a wider audience by promoting the festival throughout central Scotland and to attract visitors to the area who will buy tickets for shows and spend money on goods and services thereby stimulating the local economy.
