Car Boot

The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. till noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. Tables are available for anyone wishing to make some money from unwanted items and all money raised benefits the Hall Trust. For hall and pitch bookings call (01324) 570450.

Al Anon

A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. The group also meets in Grahamston United Church, Falkirk, on Monday evenings at the same time. For a local contact number call 0141 339 8884.

North Broomage

Bingo continues on Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 7 p.m. The club is available for hire to accommodate Birthday parties, Weddings etc. and further information is available by calling the club after 6 p.m. on (01324) 552685.

East Playgroup

Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday through to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.

Badminton Club

The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday between 8.15-9 p.m. The group would be happy to welcome new members.

Toddler Group

Toddlers, Tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue continues every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. Aerobics Class

Ochilview Bar

Tonight (Thursday), the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge of the former Warriors Club at 8 p.m. Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The Play Your Cards Right game also features on the same evening.

Barbershop Singing

Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. Larbert Bowling

Cabaret continues tomorrow (Friday) when the much acclaimed Legends Show goes ahead. Entry is £6 and those wishing to attend can book by leaving their names at the bar. The club would be happy to accommodate new members and information is available at the bar. Meanwhile, cash bingo goes ahead every Monday at 7.30 p.m. in the club’s Pretoria Road premises.

Centenary Celebrations

Stenhousemuir Bowling Club celebrates its Centenary next year and is currently fund raising to give the Church Street premises a complete makeover before the event. To this end a bumper prize bingo goes ahead in the clubhouse on Wednesday, November 26, 7 p.m. for 7.30 p.m. Tickets, priced £1 are available from the bar and players should take along a cup.

Churches Together

The recent Coffee Morning held in the Plough Hotel proved another great success and the group wishes to thank all who supported the event. Margaret Tooth gave a comprehensive report on the work of Blythswood Christian Care and after expenses for the event were deducted, the charity received a donation of the remaining £110. The group also thanks Ruby’s Cards who contributed £80 to that total. Next meeting is on Saturday, February 7, next year when it’s hoped to share the skills of local churches with the local community. More information nearer the event.

Stenhousmuiir Bowling

Cabaret continues at Stenhousemuir Bowling Club this Saturday, October 25, when the fabulous China Blue entertains. The three piece group takes the stage around 9 p.m. following the bingo and David Taylor will fill in the spaces with his disco. Entry is £6 and ticket enquiries can be made at the bar in Church Street.

Larbert West

The service on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. will be conducted by members of the Kirk Session.Creche and Sunday Club facilities for all children. Refreshments and fellowship in the hall after the service. All welcome. At 3 p.m. there is an outing to the ten pin bowling centre in Camelon. The Prayer Group meet on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the lesser hall.

Stenhouse & Carron

The service on Sunday is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Bill Thomson. The Young Church (Sunday School) meet during the service and new members are always welcome. The popular Wednesday Welcome awaits you in the hall on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. All are welcome to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the minister’s thought for the day. Forthcoming Winter Fayre in Dobbie Hall on Saturday, November 1 at 2 p.m.

Grace Church

Everyone is warmly welcome to the services this coming Sunday in Carrongrange School at 10.30 a.m. and also at 6 p.m. Grace Kids meet during the morning service. The Prayer Meeting will be held on Thursday at 7.45 p.m. in the Dawson Mission. Generate, for those of secondary school age, meets in the Dawson Mission this Saturday at 7 p.m. and there is a ‘unite’ event for secondary school pupils from all the Larbert churches in the Dawson Mission on Friday, October 31. This is a live concert by the group Royal Foundlings.

Larbert Old

Tryst Community Church will meet in Tryst Community Centre, Park Drive, Stenhousemuir on Sunday, October 26 at 10 a.m. for Worship and Bible Teaching. The teaching will be led by Peter Henderson. On Sunday, the morning service is at 10.30 a.m. and will be led by Mrs Isabelle McMillan. The Young Church meet in the halls before the service and crèche is held in the Session Room. There will be tea/coffee and biscuits in the hall after the service and the Traidcraft Stall will also be there. On Monday, the Banner and Craft Group meet in the Session Room at 2.30 p.m. The Prayer Group meet in the Session Room at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Zumba Classes

Zumba with Carol continues at the Dobbie Hall on Thursdays 7-8 p.m. and Sundays 6-7 p.m. also class at Carrongrange School on Tuesdays 7-8 p.m. Zumba Gold with Carol continues at the Dobbie Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays 11-11.45 a.m. This class is suitable for beginners to exercise,active older participants or those seeking a slower paced lower impact zumba class. Salvation Army

Stenhousemuir Salvation Army Community Church welcomes all. Meetings are as follows, Cornerstone Full Gospel Church Sunday Morning Worship from 10.30 a.m. to noon. Pastor Alex Paton will be leading the service. Sunday Worship with the Salvation Army is from 2.30-3.30 p.m. Major John McCaffrey will be taking the meeting. Monday Home League will be from 1.55-3 p.m. led by Brian Irvine from Edinburgh Salvation Army. Probus Club

Larbert & Stenhousemuir Probus Club heard from Margaret McLeish at Larbet Bowling Club on October 14. She was one of the 15,000 ‘Clyde-siders’, or volunteers, who ensured the success of the Commonwealth Games during the summer. Introduced by new President, Tom Meikle, she outlined the months of preparation, interviews, training and bonding that preceded the Games themselves. Her emphasis was on the personal legacy she has inherited from new friends, new experiences, improved confidence, opportunities to meet a variety of teams, happy memories and a new personal fitness. In thanking her, following a volley of questions, Tom Meikle reminded members of the next meeting on October 28 when Ian Scott will talk on the Falkirk Steeple in its 200th anniversary year.

Supper Dance

Saturday, November 29 the 1st Larbert Boys Brigade will be having a supper dance at the Plough Hotel in Stenhousemuir from 7.30 p.m. to late. Over 18s only, tickets are £10 and can be bought by calling Margaret Carr on (01324) 570238.

Country Dancing

Braveheart Walks

Lively walks in Larbert are full of friendly faces, who enjoy the scenery on serveral different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. we leave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower walk (average 30 minutes) both finishing in the cafe afterwords. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30 minute (average) walk or brisker one hour walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk.
