Services this Sunday in Carrongrange School are at 10.30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. The service at 10.30 a.m. will include a formal recognition of our acceptance in to the International Presbyterian Church.This week’s prayer meeting will be on Thursday at 7.45 p.m. in the Dawson Mission. All are very welcome to each of these services. Curry night is tomorrow (Friday) at Mel and Eleanor’s house, in aid of building project funds.
Last Sunday, Jorja Kerr Muir, baby daughter of Jillian and Scott Muir was welcomed into the family of the church through the Sacrament of Baptism. On Sunday, the Young Church Prizegiving Family Service is at 10.30 a.m. and will be led by the Rev. Melville Crosthwaite with the Young Church taking part. The Young Church meet in the halls before the service and crèche is held in the Session Room. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be served in the hall after the service and the Traidcraft Stall will also be there. Following on from the service, the annual church picnic organised by the Young Church will be in Muiravonside Country Park. Food is provided for the children but bring your own BBQ and it will be cooked for you. On Tuesday, the Prayer Group meet in the Session Room at 6.30 p.m.
Vale of Carron Rotary
President Jill Dewar welcomed Rotary Club of Vale of Carron members and guest Alexandria (Ally) Vincent to the weekly meeting at the Plough Hotel, Stenhousemuir. After an enjoyable meal and some short items of business Rotarian Frances Sharp introduced Ally, a Rotary International Global Scholar currently attending the University of Edinburgh and hosted by Portobello Rotary. Ally gave a presentation on her home in Florida and considerable achievements in academia and Rotaract, a service organisation for young people between 18 and 30. We are delighted to see visitors on Wednesdays. The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. and at 6.30 p.m., both services being conducted by Rev. Dr Campbell Campbell-Jack. In the morning there will be creche and Sunday Club facilities for all children. Refreshments and fellowship in the hall after the service. All welcome to either/both services. From 4-6 p.m. there is a Messy Church service, for all the family, of fun, activities and praise culminating in a meal for all. On Wednesday the Prayer Group meet at 1 p.m. in the lesser hall. On Sunday, June 28 there is a walk along the banks of the Bannock Burn, leaving the church at 1.30 p.m. Anyone interested please contact Myrna or Molly.
The club held a successful fundraising event at the Dobbie Hall in Larbert last Saturday evening. Popular Abba Tribute band Swede Dreamz played a two hour set including all their hits to an enthusiastic audience. Thanks to the generosity of all those who attended, over £1000 was raised and will be split between Macmillan Cancer Support and Strathcarron Hospice. Many thanks to all those who helped and contributed. Next weeks Handover meeting will see President Ronnie Laing hand over the chain of office to president Elect Bill Underhill. The service on Sunday is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by the Rev. Bill Thomson. The Young Church (Sunday School) meet during the service and new members are always welcome.
The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. till noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. Tables are available for anyone wishing to make some money from unwanted items and all money raised benefits the Hall Trust. For hall and pitch bookings call (01324) 570450.
A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The Playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday through to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11.a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11.a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11.a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.
The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday between 8.15 p.m. and 9 p.m. The group would be happy to welcome new members – whatever the standard.
The above group at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue continues every Thursday. The facility is for birth to three year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. It runs on Thursday between 9.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. A warm welcome awaits and for further information call Alison on 07983 534424.

The old Warriors Club has resumed Friday night Bingo sessions and eyes-down is at 8 p.m. prompt. Meanwhile, every Sunday at 3 p.m. a domino competition goes ahead when the winner takes home a steak pie and runner-up a quarter bottle of spirits. Entry is £1 and monies raised go to charity. Tonight (Thursday), the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge 8 p.m. Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The Play Your Cards Right game also features on the same evening.
Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30.p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. A dance/cabaret has been arranged for Saturday, July 11, at 8.30 p.m. when popular duo, Heartbreaker, provides the entertainment. Tickets, priced £6, can be booked at the bar where details of the event can also be obtained. Meanwhile, the club would be happy to accommodate new members and information is available from members or at the clubrooms. Cash bingo goes ahead every Monday at 7.30.pm. in the club’s Pretoria Road premises.
Stenhousemuir F.C. Community Development Director, Jamie Kirk, would be delighted to hear from anyone over 50 wishing to enjoy a new initiative at the club. A new session of Walking Football has started and places are available at Ochilview on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Given running with the ball is out of bounds it is ideal for those who feel they would benefit from a gentler form of the game as well as enjoying the social aspect. Tryst Dental Practice sponsors the local sessions with a cuppa to follow. Jamie reckons describing the game does not do it justice and it is better to come along and witness it in practice. Stenhousemuir Salvation Army want to give a big welcome to anyone who would like to visit us. Meetings are as follows: Sunday we have Cornerstone Full Gospel Church between 10.30 a.m.-noon with Pastor Alex Paton leading the service. At 2.30-3.30 p.m. we have our Salvation Army’s Worship, which is lead by Major John McCaffrey. The Monday Home League is from 1.55-3 p.m.. This week our guest speaker is Bandsman Ian French from Gorgie Salvation Army Citadel. The monthly cabaret continues this Saturday when top male vocalist/guitarist Robbie Dale performs. Robbie takes the stage around 9 p.m. following the bingo and there are still some tickets, priced £3, available. David Taylor will, as usual, fill in the blanks with his disco. Currently celebrating its 150th season when all games will be played at home, the club would be delighted to welcome new members at the Church Street green. Forms are available at the bar and the entry fee has been reduced to half price at the present time.
Lively walks in Larbert are full of friendly faces, who enjoy the scenery on several different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. we leave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower 30 minute walk both finishing in the cafe afterwards. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30minute walk or brisker 1hr walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk.
