The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. until noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. Tables are available for anyone wishing to make some money from unwanted items and all money raised benefits the Hall Trust. For hall and pitch bookings call (01324) 570450.
A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The Playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday through to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.
The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday from 8.15-9 p.m.
Toddlers Tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue continues every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30.p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. The 62nd Larbert Scout Group gives advance notice of the annual Grand Jumble Sale that takes place on Saturday, August 16, in Larbert Old Church Hall. The members are always very grateful for donations of clothes, toys, books, bric-a-brac etc. for the sale and will be issuing details of collection arrangements to householders in the area early next month.
Stenhousemuir Bowling Club continues its cabaret season on Saturday, July 26, when popular vocalist Dianne Murray performs. The act follows bingo around 9 p.m. and tickets, priced £3, can be booked at the bar. David Taylor fills in the gaps at the Church Street premises with his disco during the evening.
Tryst Community Church wants to thank all the parents and young people who came along to our ‘Who’s the Best?’ Holiday Club and Prizegiving last week. More Than Gold 2014 event is the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, July 23 from 7 p.m. Come along and see this event on the big screen in Tryst Community Centre, Park Drive, Stenhousemuir and enjoy refreshments, competitions, and much more. We will meet as usual in the Community Centre on Sunday,July 20 at 10 a.m. for worship and Bible teaching. President Jill Dewar welcomed members and guests, Martin Scott and Dennis Westfield from Larbert Rotary, to a meeting of the Rotary Club of Vale of Carron. After a lovely meal and fellowship members discussed arrangements for the Beer Tent Bar which they will again run at Airth Highland Games on July 26. This is one of Scotland’s oldest, most traditional games and thousands of visitors come each year to experience the unique, friendly atmosphere in a picturesque setting. The Beer Tent is an important fundraiser for the club and warm, dry weather would be welcomed. When business items were finalised Rotarian Dave Paton PHF set a tricky quiz on Nursery Rhymes. The winning team scored a commendable 18 out of 20, demonstrating, perhaps, they hadn’t grown up. President Jill thanked Rotarian Dave for his quiz and Larbert Rotarians for joining in. Helping Hollie are staging a Zumba event at Larbert High School tomorrow from 7.30-8.30 p.m. There is a holiday theme, so please come to class in your brightest gear, dress up or just come and join the fun. Tickets are £5 each and include class entry and entry to the raffle. These must be purchased before the event. Our lively walks in Larbert are full of friendly faces, who enjoy the scenery on serveral different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. we leave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower walk (average 30 minutes) both finishing in the cafe afterwards. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30 minute (average) walk or brisker one hou walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk.
